Today was our first day of work. We had 4 different teams. I am with Ray Lewand’s team. It started out with Ray, Tommy Ann, Rose, Neva, Dina, Alec, and myself. We went to Paula and Stephen’s home. She was really moved to see us there and was particularly happy to see Rose and Tommy Ann. Stephen, unfortunately for us who wanted to see him, is in the Philippines. Our goal for this coming week is to make her FEMA trailer obsolete. We are going to complete her bathroom, install appliances and cabinets, and put flooring throughout. Most of the flooring was already removed. Alec, Neva, and Tommy Ann removed the double layer of laminate flooring from Stephen’s room. The installation of kitchen cabinets has begun. I was able to help Ray a little bit with that as well as measure for base molding and tiles. We were joined by Michael and Tyson who set to work installing cement board on the walls of the hall bathroom.

Joanne, Hoku, Wes, and Dina were at Sharon Fairly’s house sanding and mudding her drywall. They worked hard there and didn’t take any breaks. Hoku started her morning early with breakfast duty. It was hard for her to wake up, but once she was, she worked hard. She has also been given the duty of making lunches everyday for Darian. As one who ate lunch with Darian, I can attest that she made a really good meal for him. He kept pulling things out of his bag.
The weather was sunny and in the 80’s. Bob, Norm, Ed, and Oleg, were out in the sun working on framing a roof. Bob’s face is a little red.
Jamaul, Loran, Mike, and Tyson moved a hundred sheets of sheetrock for the second story of a home. They were quite ingenious and were able to get those sheets moved quicker than Darian expected and were ready for their next assignments. It still was hard work despite their efficiency.
Ron just spent the day visiting, basically. He went and checked out all the job sites and chatted with all the homeowners. Here he is working hard.

Ron wants me to share the story of my super-hearing! Actually, I'm going to let him tell that story himself tomorrow.
Jim Z, Rose wants me to tell you hi.
Hoku says, "Hi Grandma!"
Alec says, "Hi Jimbo & Nolan!"
Well, we love you all. We're having quite the experience here. We are grateful that you sent us.
